So I have a friend who is trying to put some of these hooks on a shelf, and with the hooksshe was trying to drill the holes in. You can kind of see that she snapped the screws off as she was going into the wood and shecouldn’t get the screws down farther than that. Apparently she didn’t know anything about pre-drilling the holes before you put the 47 Creative Storage Ideas For A Small Bathroom Organization screws in. So I’m going to show you the best way to do that. So I’m going to show you how to tell which drill bit to use. I have two drill bits sitting right here.
So you can see the screws and the threads of the screws. What you want is for the end of the drill bit to just barely cover up the shaft of thescrew so you can see the threads on either side of it. So you can see when I hold the drill bit over the screw, you can still see the threads oneither side. It’s pretty hard to find a truck box that will fit Tacomas. I have a 1998 two door Tacoma with an extende… That way it will still grip when it goes into the wood. This one would be too big because it covers up all of the threads so there would be nogrip for the screw when it goes in. And so by doing that, like on some of these harder woods, the wood is just so hard andthe screws are so weak that it snaps off.
You can see like right there the end of the screw is still in the wood. So now that I have my bit chosen out I’ll just pre-drill all of the holes all the waythrough and then go from there. Here we go. So these are drilled all the way through to the other side and then now that those aredrilled the screws fit it very nicely. I’ve got a lot of force and they still hold on really well. Like I’m pulling up on that and it’s not going anywhere. So there we go.
That’s how you screw screws into hardwood.
