It’s like an Amazon Echo, but with wheels and a personality. A Bosch-owned startupcalled Mayfield Robotics has pulled the curtain to reveal its latest smart home robot. Its name is Kuri, and it has beady eyes that will blink when you call its name. The robot, which took 40 people nearly two years to develop, recently made its debut at an electronicsconvention in Las Vegas. Kuri is voice-controlled, and it knows how to move around thehouse while avoiding obstacles and playing music via Bluetooth. It also has facial 6 Do It Yourself Home Décor ideas recognition, 1080p cameras behind its eyes, and it will return to its docking stationautomatically when its battery is low. Mayfield’s Chief Technology Officer Kaiien Hsiao noted how cheap smartphones influenced numerous technological changes in thelast decade, and now is the time to “leverage those changes to make robots.”Kuri will be available in the fall for $699.
